The Maudie Curler Story
Maudie Curler was inspired by my grandmother Maude Nellon, affectionately known as “Miss Maude.” “Maudie” was a Bahamian immigrant from a small island off of the central Atlantic Ocean called Cat Island. Not formally educated but full of wisdom and grit, Maudie operated several businesses and acted as a banker to many individuals in the community desiring to start businesses. She loaned seed money to help prospective entrepreneurs get started on their visions and goals. Not one to rest on her laurels, Maudie requested at the ripe age of 95 that she wanted her eldest granddaughter to name one of her children after her. Unfortunately, this request could not be granted because her granddaughter was childless, but the request was granted in this way. “I will start a successful business and name it after you!” That was sufficient for Maudie after many years of tireless work, prayers, and the grace of the angels who helped. Maudiecurler was born.
Miss Maude had a philosophy. Meet the needs of the people, provide them with an exceptional product, and ask the Lord to help you every step of the way, and you will be successful. Believe you can do it!
An avid swimmer and angler, she often would “get away” and get direction on how to handle the affairs of life. At 100 years of age, she took her last breath. She took no medication, could stil talk and eat, and often enjoyed sitting under her tree in the front yard talking to her friends.
This product is dedicated to my Shero. Maudie.
